Things can add up, althought I can't complain on my end because my DJ, Cake & Caterer are free. I don't have to pay them. Also my photographer is free because I was like you and could not see myself paying that much for someone to take my picture when my Dad does just as good for free, although my Dad isn't the photographer, a friend whom has been experimenting the last couple of years is. She's good.

As for your flowers, be sure to shop around the florists in your town. Even ordering online, shop around. I don't know if you're doing to DIY thing but artifical are very affordable and you can make an array of arrangements with artifical without the overwhelming costs. If you're interested in artificial I got some really nicely priced roses from eFavorMart.com, they're silk & their quality is amazing to only be $14.99 for 68 roses.

Good luck with your search and you still have PLENTY of time!! <3
I only have until September 25th on the otherhand.

FutureMrsAble on "Words for the Sand Ceremony?"

I took this directly from the script I just recently finished

Paragraph 4: Sands Ceremony

Officiant: Amber and Jamie will now perform the sands ceremony...

[prompts couple to go ahead to pour the sands]

Officiant: Each one of them will pour their own sand in a common vase - the symbolism being that each one brings their life, experience, feelings and uniqueness into this marriage, the family they start here before you. The united sands represent the love which they have for each other, the family they will build together, and, hopefully, the new life they will nurture together.

I found what the officiant was supposed to say on some website but didnt save the website before it was closed out on my computer. So I don't know where I was :-/

We're having a sand ceremony and I'm writing our entire ceremony scirpt from scratch. I'm having trouble researching ideas for what the Officiant should say to introduce/explain the sand ceremony! Are any other brides doing the sand unity ceremony, and how are you explaining it's symbolism to the guests?

Recently @ one of the weddings I attended, only girls that are in a relationship that aren't engaged, or single or divorced women are in the bouquet toss. And for men, its the same - single, non-engaged or divorced. This is how I've heard the announcers announce people up. I did not participate in a May 15th bouquet toss because they said I didn't qualify because I was wearing an engagement ring.. eh :-/ hope this helps :)

We're having an 80-90 guest wedding, and many of our guests are already married or engaged. How many people are necessary to have a bouquet toss or garter throw? We will have about 8 unmarried girls and 9 unmarried guys. Is this enough to participate? And do people participate if they are divorced or engaged? What are the unspoken rules for the toss and throw?

I am trying to come up with a theme or color palette for our wedding. We are getting married in my hometown, Hot Springs. It is a historic little town and use to serve as Al Capone's hideout. My future husband loves gangster history and I happen to love the Roaring 20's era. I do not want our reception to resemble a "speakeasy" but am just trying to get ideas for this theme. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Alright, I am getting married in mid-October 2011, so a little over a year. My fiance and I are on a very strict budget as we are trying to go inexpensive, but not cheap looking. The ceremony will be held in a small country church with family and a few friends attending...apx. 100 people. We are both country lovers and like the cowboy western look, but we both also want bright colors for the wedding.

Our main color is a bright blue. The bridesmaids will be wearing short black cotton dresses of their choice and the groomsmen black button ups with dark wash jeans. My wedding dress is an off-white, almost cream. My fiance will look the same as the groomsmen, but he will be wearing a bright blue tie also.

The flowers are going to be small arrangements of pink, yellow, red, and orange gerbera daisies. To incorporate the blue into my arrangement, the ribbon holding it together will be blue.

So, we already have a lot of color....but are also incorporating some tan colors as we are using twine and cowboy boots as accents in the ceremony and reception.
For the reception, we are thinking black and white table cloths, alternating on the tables (not both on the same table) with the opposite color hankerchief in the middle with our centerpieces (mason jars with floating candles) in the center. The napkins and plates will be blue (some napkins white), along with blue or maybe clear cups. The cake will have the bright pinks, orange, yellow, red, and blue on it.

I feel like there is a lot of color and craziness going on. I want it to look uniform, but not still casual. Any thoughts on how to change this, or any opinions on the color and theme blending together would be great! Thanks!

I think the number one first thing you and your fiance should do is sit down and decide what your budget is, because that will dictate everything else you do. Once you know your budget you can make a priority list of the things that are most important to you. For example, how important are venue, food, drinks, music, dress, flowers, etc. relative to one another? Then you can try to push more of your budget to the things you consider most important. Then, once you have a budget plus your priorities down, you can start looking for venues, vendors and dress options that are within your budget.

I don't think pumpkins are more Thanksgiving than Halloween! That's just silly. I think they're fall-like in general and they'd be really fun as centerpieces for an October wedding. I think you could also find some of those preserved and colored fall leaves that you could use on your tables for pretty cheaply. Those can be pretty too. So, what exactly do you mean by "mystical and magical"? Did you have anything more specific in mind?

Edit: I'm getting married this October (yay October brides!), and though I'm not going for a Halloween theme specifically I *am* going to have lots of lanterns. I think having a ton of lanterns and/or candles can go a long way towards adding both a mystical/magical and very romantic feeling to your venue. Though it's worth noting that the venue will probably have rules about candle usage. They'll most likely require you to have it in some kind of holder, but it's definitely something you would want to ask them about before you settle on a location.

Hm, do you really need a specific theme other than your color scheme? I think you'd be fine just being consistent with your colors and/or flowers. I'm doing navy and silver, and then because my venue is kind of rustic I'm doing a wildflower "theme" with lots of old-fashioned iron lanterns. So, I'm not really doing anything as specific as nautical, or 50s, or whatever else, but I am trying to complement the venue. I guess my advice would be not to try to force a theme if nothing comes naturally to you. It's not really necessary.

Oh boy. Your situation as me afraid now. LOL. My only other girl in my wedding is a 12 year old. She's my niece. My MOH & my niece, that's it!! And my sister has taken my niece shopping and it's opposite with her.. she wants the dresses a 60 yr old woman would want. She won't do strapless. She won't do spagetti strap. I really don't know what to do though. I was thinking something high cut with short sleeves but we've not went looking yet. I did tell her that if she didn't want to be in it that it wouldn't hurt my feelings and she could take care of the guestbook for me. She just looked at me with this "What?" look. Hopefully by Spetember we have things figured out LOL. Good luck to you.

Have you thought about the Interlocking hearts theme? It's very pretty and can be found most everywhere. Check out http://WWW.WRAPWITHUS.COM and in their search box type in "Interlocking Hearts" everything they have will pop up, and it's definitely cheaper to get the items from this site then it is on some other sides. For example... the interlocking heart bridal money bag is $14.99 on their site. I seen it in another wedding magazine for $24.99. Watch the prices, and compare to several diff places before ordering. Good luck on your wedding. I too and a young bride to be, I will turn 25 the month before my wedding. My theme is interlocking hearts.

My cousin recently got married and they had an arch decorated with tulle & flashing lights. It was lovely. I am actually doing the same thing except my lights won't flash. My colors are black & hot pink so it won't be as bright as most peoples weddings, but the arch is a lovely idea. I've always wanted one for as long as I can remember.

I am like you, my fiance and I are actually paying for about 90% of the wedding, including my wedding gown & bridal accessories. I think its really cool that you want a Halloween wedding. My family things mine should have been that weekend, too, but I feel like 9/25 is far enough, I don't wonna have to wait til 10/31 LOL.

Anyhow, begin with finding reception halls. Look at local clubs and organizations, they usually rent their halls out for $300.00 sometimes less. You can hold your ceremony & reception there if you're not too big into the church scene, which is where me & my fiance stand :)

Also, look online for affordably cheap decorations. I found these three sites: http://www.favorfavor.com, http://www.wrapwithus.com, http://www.efavormart.com. I used the http://www.efavormart.com to order my flowers and girl, they are amazing. I was truly BLOWN away by how amazing they look. So, if you want to do your own florals.. check out that site. You get 64 roses for $14.99. That is a great deal.

You have PLENTY PLENTY of time to start planning. Browse the Internet and get ideas. Google "Halloween Weddings" or even "Mythical Weddings" The cakes you find are amazing, but I am sure there are other outlets to your planning.

And since you have so much time, think about opening a joint savings account and each of you put $10 in per pay check. I know most people get paid bi-weekly. So just put in $10 each pay check and by the time your wedding gets around you'll have money saved up for a honeymoon when you didn't even realize that's what you were planning for!! You've got 75 weeks. So, roughly 38 weeks of savings. If you put in $20 and him $20 a month thats $1520 you will have come October of next year. If you're not looking for a Luxurious honeymoon but a nice one, that will work.

My fiance & I are returning to the place where he purposed and spending a few days there in a secluded cabin. We're going to Gatlinburg, Tn.

Good luck!!

My fiancee and I plan to marry in the Fall...to be exact, Halloween weekend. I want to use pumpkins on the table arrangements. I've had a few people tell me if I use pumpkins, it's going to look more like Thanksgiving more than the effect I want..which is Halloween design. Oh, I also know I want the reception hall to look mystical and magical. Any ideas on how to get that effect on a budget? Thanks for your help!

You know I honestly used to look at people and think, "why are you hiring someone to plan your wedding... it's YOUR wedding". I was so excited when it was my turn to do it!! I'm really good at planning parties and stuff so why would this be any different? Not to mention that I've only dreamed of how my dress would look and what the hall would look like only for well... MY WHOLE LIFE.

So I started the planning 4 months ago, I did my research and heard that it's best to get the place first. I got all dressed up with a few friends one day and we went out looking. I ended up very disappointed :( A lot of places blew me off and were more interested in getting my deposit. Some places even wanted to change my date, which I firmly said that I didn't want to do. The next weekend I decided to take a break from that and check out some catering companies. Oh what a mistake that was!!! They honestly wanted me to try left over food... what is that?? My parents were willing to spend a ton of money and they wanted me to try stale food. I was outraged.

A friend told me about a family owned wedding planner and I was like oh no I want to plan my own wedding. But I broke down after all of this rejection and and decided to give these people a call. Come to find out, these people not only set up meetings for me to go to, but they kept me so involved that I have honestly been planning my own wedding! It's like having an assistant!!! Totally not what I thought it was going to be. These people got me deals on stuff, and even with all the money to spend in the world everyone loves a deal!! I'm 6 months away from my wedding and I already have everything booked. How amazing! Now alls left to do is put the finishing touches in place with my planner.... MY planner, ahhh I love it!

You should check them out! http://www.magicalplan-it.com

Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this. I just got engaged this past January. I'm scared and excited and happy all at the same time. I don't know what the rules are when it comes to planning. I know for a fact that, though my parents helped my sister fully with her wedding, they have no intentions of helping me with mine. I don't know where to start actually. My fiancee and I have discussed the fact that maybe we may have something small considering we don't have the money to have a big wedding and many of my relatives want to come to the wedding. Yikes! We won't be married until October 2011. Any suggestions???
