Born to be Mrs. Beever

I just realized that I wrote my very first post for the Get Married Blogger Bride’s board almost 14 months ago!  Wow, I didn’t realize it had been so long that I have been a part of such a wonderful community of brides and internet friends.  In the past 14 months I have written over 150 posts for this web site and have received an amazing amount of comments with great feedback, support, encouragement and suggestions to get me through the craziness of all that is an engagement and wedding planning process.

Now I find myself on the other side celebrating our 3 month wedding anniversary TODAY! :)   And I am still going strong on here enjoying writing the wedding recaps and sharing my lessons learned and of course all the fun photos and videos from after the big day (something I highly encourage all you ladies to do).

Along the way during this time, I have seen many blogger brides come and quickly go.  But I have also seen the faithful who stick it out and find the time to share their hopes, dreams and of course, incredible DIY projects – I’m talking to you Miss Heather_n_Will, pinklovebird and Erin Powers!   :)

What a joy it has been…I am so glad that I turned on the Get Married tv show over a year ago and decided to check out the Blogger Brides secition of their web site that they referred their viewers to.  I have even gained a ton of inspiration for my own wedding from this board.  For example, my GOBO light design was inspired by an old BB friend, march-eleven2010 who has already gotten married and is no longer around the boards much but was a great friend at that time.

Overall, I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that Blogger Brides has done for me (and our wedding!) and say a big huge thank you to you ladies for all you have done.  And I’m sure my family and friends would also like to thank you for giving me a place to spout out about all things wedding and save their sanity and our relationships from being overloaded with wedding talk! :)

Best wishes to those of you on this path and congratulations to those of you who have recently joined me as a Mrs.  There’s still more to come with the recaps so stay tuned next week because I have some of my very favorite photos and videos to share with you!

We recently got back from Northern California Wine Country (otherwise known as “heaven on earth”) where we shot an episode of Get Married featuring Oakland Raiders running back, Marcel Reece and his fiancé, Tara Willey (stay tuned for all new episodes starting July 3rd).  We also shot the fall cover of Get Married magazine for which we challenged celebrity event designer and color specialist, Sasha Souza, to create a spectacular table for our traditional yet modern bride.

The challenge: Create a romantic tablescape for a California bride in four days with Get Married’s box of “goodies”

The location: Chateau Felice in Healdsburg, CANapaShootfinal Behind the Scenes with Get Married

A Few Behind the Scenes Shots…
Sasha created the table by mixing and matching fabrics, flatware and color to create a look that matches our bride’s personality and tastes.  I can’t wait for you guys to see the incredible design that Sasha and her team created!  The next issue of Get Married magazine will be available in July, so stay tuned!  In the meantime, you can view the entire Summer issue online for FREE!  See all the fun things you can do with the interactive version of the magazine:

The very talented Jon Buick of Xquisite Designs in Boca Raton was this issue’s Cover Challenge designer, and he didn’t disappoint!  The private beach at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach was the perfect backdrop for a bold and bright table design that fused fuschia, pink and yellow-so bright and beachy.

The Summer Issue also features the hottest trends in wedding dresses, invitations, favors, registry picks and more, plus real weddings, top honeymoon destinations and wedding picks from celeb brides Patti Stanger of Millionaire Matchmaker and Nikki Cascone of Top Chef. You don’t want to miss this!

On the newest episode of Get Married TV, host Stacie Francombe invites two different mixologists to come up with the perfect signature drink for one lucky bride’s wedding. The cocktail experts were instructed to make one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic beverage that reflected the couple’s fun personality and the bride’s trendy style. And although I didn’t get a chance to taste the cocktails personally, I couldn’t have agreed more with the bride’s decision on which drink to serve at their reception. Which got me to thinking… do I need a specialty drink at my own wedding? And what would I want it to be?

Feeling inspired by the episode, I presented Joe with the idea that we implement a specialty drink on our reception menu. But Joe isn’t much of a hard liquor drinker, and in fact, the only alcoholic beverage I’ve ever seen him consume is beer. But he knows that I’m a big fan of martinis and flavored vodkas, so he suggested that we borrow a recipe from one of my favorite restaurant drinks. It was a no-brainer! The Cotton Candy Martini. It was perfect! Fluffy pink candy atop a delicious concoction of chilled vodka and fruit juices inside a sugared rim should make for a tasty treat that matches the pink décor of our reception. Most importantly, I want to offer a unique signature drink that will (hopefully) pleasantly surprise our guests. For the nonalcoholic drink, we’re going to substitute vodka for sprite to get the same effect for those who want to enjoy a more low-key version.

Signature cocktails are a simple and affordable way to showcase creativity to your guests! Everyone will be sure to appreciate the thoughtfulness that you put into the detail of every aspect of your wedding. Are you considering serving a signature drink?

When planning a wedding (or making a television show about planning a wedding), you definitely come across some unexpected moments. It is important with all of the stress that comes with planning your day that you take time to laugh- these moments happen to us all.  I decided to post some bloopers from last week’s show.  Katie (bride) and I had a blast.  Enjoy!

Tell us about some of your wedding planning bloopers.

Did you see last Saturday’s episode of Get Married? It was on the WE Channel at 9:30 am. (Thank you for the extra sleep, DVR!) Each week the show features an engaged couple who needs a little creative help in planning their special day, and Get Married brings in the experts needed to make it happen.

Last week the show provided two wedding cake gurus who faced the challenge of designing and then actually creating the bride’s dream cake. She then had the chance to taste the desserts and got to choose her favorite cake between the two to be used at her wedding. I’m a huge fan of cake TV shows already like Amazing Wedding Cakes, Ace of Cakes, and the Food Network’s Cake Challenges. I not-so-secretly dream about being one of those very lucky brides that get to choose any cake she wants from these professional artists, so this was a really fun episode to watch for me. But my favorite part of the show was when the bridal party went with Stacie to experience the hottest new trend in cardio and fitness… pole dancing class! Not only does it seem to be a great way to whip those booties into shape before they have to walk down the aisle in front of everyone, but it also looks like a totally unique way to bond with your best girls.

I’m leaving it up to my Maid of Honor to plan the Bachelorette Party, but that didn’t stop me from sharing this idea with her after I saw how fun it looked on the Get Married show. Actually, my MOH really liked the idea too! We even already looked up a few studios in the area that offer the pole dancing cardio classes. A bachelorette pole dancing party sounds like a total blast where you can try something new, and who knows? You may even pick up some sexy moves to surprise your fiance with during your honeymoon…!
