Holy lost post, Batman!

MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2009
JENN

I posted on Saturday and all of the sudden it's gonzo! I think I know what I did...I didn't tag or catergorize it! Muh bad!

Sorry for the gap in posts, my mom took her job back at home, so I'm taking care of the baby while we both travel back and forth. Little Cole is asleep, so I thought I'd come back on and type this up again!

So we're getting closer and closer and things are starting to get done. Deposit is down on the venue, 2 of my 3 bridesmaids ordered their dresses, and I'm ordering these invitations this week!

I'm thinking about punching holes in the top and lacing some orange ribbon through.

Jason and I are going to meet with some caterers in town and get some prices and ideas this week when I'm back home.

And I'll leave you all now with a hair regrowth update. It's still pink and blonde, but you can see all the roots growing out. My bangs are so close to what they used to be. I'm so excited!

I hear the baby stirring! <3

New colours!

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2009
JENN

Since we have a new venue, I have a new vision. As much as I loved the Thai idea, it really only fit with that eclectic venue. I finally caved to my fiance's demands of blue, so we're going with light blue and tangerine with yellow and bright green accents. More of a fun, summery appeal opposed to the spring, formal colours we'd planned before.

The girls and I are going to hit up David's Bridal on the 4th to order their dresses in Pool. Go figure, I don't want them to be matchy, but they all liked the same flippin' dress! So it's the same style...

It's this dress, but the two main colours so you get the idea of what I'm talking about!

My inspiration for blue and orange:

So with that, I'm doing blue hydrangeas and orange roses.

And tomorrow, we talk to a caterer...can't wait!

It's about time!

JENN

We officially have a venue. We're going in this coming Thursday to sign the contract and put a deposit down on a cute little venue, here at home.

This location actually took me by surprise. Not only is it a beautiful venue in my hometown, but it was actually scheduled to be demolished not to long ago. The owners bought this 100 year old church to convert into their home, but after having a dream one night, Molly decided to turn it into a reception venue. And what a beautiful venue she turned it into.

Here are some pics. Sorry for the quality on a few of them, I had it on the wrong setting and the lights were low.

And me being an excited dork in the bridal lounge! :)

The date is pretty set on August 29th, but we'll see when my mom calls me about my baby sister's parenting plan. That's it for now, but I do have plenty more to report on later!

Music, music, music!

THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2009
JENN

As I have said before, music means so much to me and I want to be that bride that just has to do everything out of the norm, well as far as music. Since we've pretty much picked out the venue, (I will confirm it when we find out when my littest sister goes to her dad's.) I've been thinking about the small things, especially music.

This is what I have so far:

Prelude music:
Love Song (cover) By Anberlin
Sea of Love by Cat Power
For Fiona by No Use for a Name
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
Anyone Else but You by The Moldy Peaches

Processional:
Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve

Bride entrance:
Real Love by Regina Spektor    I have a different, better version of this. For some reason all the versions on Youtube are live or different from the official studio recording that I have. It has a lot better opening and fits better than this version.

Recessional:
Conquest by The White Stripes

Postlude:
Such Great Heights by The Postal Service

First Dance:
Landing Feet First by Bayside

Mother and Son dance:
TBD. I'm leaving this one up to the FH. Of course, he's not concerned about it at this point. :)

Grandfather and Grand daughter dance:
TBD. I'm trying to come up with something fitting for my grandpa. Maybe a good Willie Nelson or Waylon Jennings song.

Cake Cutting:
Love You Madly by Cake

Bouquet toss:
Luv Addict by Family Force 5

Garter Toss:
I Wanna Be Your Man by EndverafteR

Last Dance:
Magic (piano version) Colbie Caillat

Hair regrowth update 4

TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 2009
JENN

So if you couldn't tell by the new avatar, I have a new hairstyle. This mop keeps getting longer and longer and I finally got my aunt to cut and style it for me. It's like a pink striped pixie cut. Very adorable. I'm definitely past the point of looking like a sick person and looking like someone with a short haircut.

Today I have a meeting with the lady from another venue I'm interested in. Surprisingly, it's local. So I'll be posting soon on that!

I love Portland, but this is spendy

MONDAY, MARCH 09, 2009
JENN

So my original hopes of having the reception at the Jupiter Hotel have been crushed due to a large price tag. It is a stunning place and I had a lot of really good plans, unfortunatly $3900 for just the location is a tad bit too high for me. So we're back to the original plans of Timberline Lodge...so far! :)

Anywho, we spent all of last weekend trying on dresses and looking at the Jupiter and of course, just regular old shopping!

Here are some pictures of the hotel for any of you NW girls looking for an awesome place:

And here are some dresses the girls tried on. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the one they all wanted. So much for non-matching bridesmaids! Haha!

And this last one I just made Jessica try on because I LOVE it!

So much for a productive weekend. When the snow calms down on the mountain, we're going to go up there and check it out!

Candy Buffet

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2009
JENN

So I've always loved the idea of a candy buffet, but never thought I'd actually use it to replace favours! I mean honestly, if the guest can't eat it, where does my money spent on favors go? Tossed away in the basement or in the Goodwill box? Seriously, that's where all my prom favours went!

So why not have a candy buffet? It's fun for everyone. Including the 2 kids I've allowed at the wedding! I've already purchased a couple clear vases and I've only spent $17 on them so far. I still need 8 or 9 more, but it's still cheaper than a candle holder for everyone with "Jenn n Jason 4 eva" engraved on them! (I'm totally kidding about the candle holders!) And for those crafty little scrapbookers who want a token of our ceremony, we are getting custom candy bags with "Jason and Jenn Thai the Knot 9-05-09." Corny, I know, but I LOVE corny!

As far as the candy, my dad says Win Co carries most of the candy. But if I want something else, I found Candy Direct. They even have the option to search candy by colour!

I'm sure you all have seen this one before, but it's my inspiration. Imagine citrusy colours:

The two I've gotten so far:

And the custom bags. Disregard the date, I was just messing around with the editor!

You wouldn't believe how excited I got about the candy buffet. I don't know if it was because of the tenseness oxycodone causes, but I was like a kid on Christmas just thinking about it.

That's it for now. I will be updating here shortly. My maids of honour and I are going bridemaids dress shopping and going to the reception venue and possible ceremony venues this coming Friday. Oh and the Oxycodone thing, I had a lymphadenectomy on Feburary 3rd to see if some lymph nodes on my PET scan were cancerous. And good news! They had no cancer in them! Still in remission! I'll have to do a hair re-growth update soon. It's starting to look like a mullet!

Dresses and colours

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 08, 2009
JENN

Now that we've got a theme and venue under our belts, it's time to pick out colours for Thai theme we've picked out. When I think of Thailand, I think of warm, spicy colours like oranges, yellows, reds and greens.

These are the colours I love from David's Bridal. Of course, the girls will pick what colour they like the best out of all of them and they also get to pick the style of dress that they want. I've never cared much for matchy dresses and if someone were to put me in a dress that wasn't right with my body style, I probably wouldn't be too happy.

We still need to find a pretty place in Portland to have the cermony!

It's been a while...

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 02, 2009
JENN

Well, I've been trying to get my life in line after cancer. Getting a job in this economy is near impossible, especially when you have such a huge gap in your job history AND SSI won't give me benefits because Hodgkin's is so easily "cured." Anyway, enough with the financial crap, let's get to the happy stuff!

So we've decided on a date, reception venue, caterer, and invitations!

But first things first. Here is my hair regrowth, 5 months after chemo was finished. Yes, I did a no-no and bleached my hair, but it's still really soft and nice!

So for a venue, we've decided a late summer reception at the Jupiter Hotel in Portland, Oregon on August 28th. We're going to rent out their DREAMtent, which is stunning.

And we also think a Thai themed reception would be fun. It fits in with the funky atmosphere and I love the bright colours. So we found a catering company that is part of TYPHOON! A really yummy Thai resturaunt. It's called Catering By Bo. For a buffet dinner, we're getting Green Curry, Phad Thai and a Garlic Pork stir fry. It also comes with two yummy Thai salads and desserts.

Lastly, we've got some awesome invites I found. I'm going to change the colours to reds, oranges and yellows, to go with the Thai feel.

I think that's about it for now!

Meet my Girls!

MONDAY, OCTOBER 06, 2008
JENN

I'm such a crazy, indecisive person, that I have TWO maids of honor. When I first told my best friend Stephanie I wanted her to be my maid of honor, she was on the verge of moving to San Diego. My MOH can't be hundreds of miles away while I plan the event of my life, I need her here by my side. So I designated my younger sister, Jessica to be my MOH as well. Not only because I needed someone, but also, I felt guilty that I hadn't asked her in the first place. So that's how I got two MOH. Now I want you all to meet, well, get a general idea of who the most important ladies are in my life.

MOH 1; aka; Jessica, my sister:

She's my 19 year old, gorgeous, recklessly impulsive sister. She can make me laugh no matter how down I get and she is CRAZY creative, so I know I can count on her for brilliant ideas.

MOH 2; aka; Stephanie, my best friend

Stephanie is a beautiful, strong girl who knows what she wants out of life and loves everything she has. She is the mother to my Godson and one of the best young mothers I've ever seen. She is very stable and can handle situations like no other. We are best friends only because our parents couldn't handle us as sisters. We can get crazy together!

Bridesmaid 1; aka; Breanna, my future sister-in-law.

Breanna, what can I say about this girl? She's stunning, she's smart, and she's her own person. Always coming up with crazy ideas that seem to work. (She gets it from her mom!) I'm so glad I'm marrying her brother, because she's already like a sister to me!

Bridesmaid 2; aka; Kelsey, my childhood best friend

I don't keep in contact with most of my childhood/high school friends, Kelsey is the exception. We've gotten into all types of shenanagins together, even wrecked havoc at Girl Scout camp by bullying the counsolers and playing hilarious pranks on our bunk mates. We were probably unnanomously hated by everyone there.

Junior Bridesmaid; aka; Morgan, my baby sister

How could I leave out my baby sister? She's such an angel face! Always thinking about everyone else and has such a positive attitude. She took the news of my cancer better than most adults and when the news broke about my grandma's colon cancer, she was positive that since her sister did such a good job, her grandma can too. What a brave little girl!

My flowergirl; aka; Alex, my hyperactive cousin.

OMG, this girl can be a handful, but she is full of personality. Don't let her sweet face fool you, she is a crazy little girl!

And last but certainly not least, is my photographer. My cousin Alyssa is better than most photographers that cost a couple grand. She is super creative, really funny, and has some of the best talent I've seen in a while!

Well, those are my ladies. Hope you all liked!

Bio:

So August 29th, 2009 is the BIG day. We're having a some-what small wedding in our hometown of The Dalles, Oregon. Planning has been a blast and pretty smooth so far. I'm sure I'll feel the crunch here in a couple months. I'll chronicle everything here and once things start falling together, the posts will become more frequent!

Loves!
