Feathers are a fun trend I see everywhere in weddings now. I never thought they would make a comeback but they have! From down the runway at Fashion week, to celebrity weddings and everywhere in between this idea has really hit the ground running and I love it!

Ever since Veterans Day I have been thinking of ways we could do something for the community of brides who are part of a military couple. We have featured military couples on the show before and their stories have really stuck with me. As luck would have it, Get Married has recently partnered with photographer Jason Pohuski in his search for 8 military couples to photograph in 2010. As a personal thank you to the men and women who serve, he is photographing their weddings for free. What an incredible idea!
If you are interested, all you have to do is write an essay on why you and your fiancé are the deserving couple and email him through his site www.StarQualityPhoto.com

Brides are always trying to find that one thing that makes their wedding unique and different. A huge trend right now is colored wedding gowns. We see red, pink, blue, black, and tons of other colored wedding gowns often. Some brides love the idea of adding their favorite funky color into their wedding day look, but still want to keep a little bit of tradition. A perfect solution is a colored crinoline. You can dye your crinoline under your dress any color you want- to match your bridesmaids, your shoes, or even your groom! I think this is such a cute and unique idea. At first glance, your dress is a bit more traditional, but you can play with your photos and show off the colored surprise underneath. Here are some cute shots I found of brides having fun with this idea on their wedding day!

Incorporating kids and animals into your wedding is a fun and intimate way to make your wedding day special. Here is a fun wedding at the McAllum House in Mendocino, CA photographed by the talented Anna Kuperberg. Every picture makes you feel like you right there at the wedding and a part of their family. I love how each picture is of something obviously special to this couple- such a neat idea. While the wedding gown is amazing and unique and the colors are vibrant- each photo focuses on a moment or memory that will not be forgotten.

I stumbled across this website and thought it would be perfect to share. Paloma's Nest is the work of Caroline Colom Vasquez, an amazing artist out of Texas. Each piece made by her is hand-crafted out of the finest and most natural materials like wood, cloth, porcelain, and paper and is meant to be an heirloom piece to pass down from generation to generation. Some of my favorite pieces would be perfect for any wedding or wedding gift or favor.
This ring bearer bowl made of white ceramic is a modern twist on the traditional ring bearer pillow:

Custom Stationary is a must for any wedding celebration. This set of hand-cut balsa wood cards can be stamped with whatever name or phrase you want and the wood can be written on with a pen, pencil or marker.

Custom Napkin Rings is a great and unique idea to add to your wedding reception table setting. How cute would it be to add your names and wedding date!

Your wedding vows are the most important part of the ceremony. This ceramic bowl can be custom stamped with your wedding vows to create an amazing heirloom and a memory you will never forget.

These custom gift bags would be perfect as a favor for your guests. Fill it with chocolates or candies or even mini ceramic bowls with your custom message to your guests.

It was an exciting time being on FOX Business this past Saturday. The live segment was titled Marriage a Booming Business? and focused on Get Married as a tri-media platform and how we got started. Take a look!
Pink is a girl's best friend- and our favorite color around here! Here's a great look at how you can still have your pretty in pink wedding in the fall. Deeper shades of pink such as Fuchsia and Rose paired with other fall hues like brown, olive, and orange can be beautiful.

While the Get Married team was in NYC for bridal fashion week, we hosted a launch party to celebrate months of planning and designing the first issue of Get Married magazine (make sure to get your free copy!). The irony is that, with all the forethought that went into the magazine, the party conceptualized just one week prior and - major thanks to Pink Monkey Events who successfully pulled it together - was as fun as it was fabulous.
Looking at the pictures and remembering the night so vividly, I’m still completely impressed with all the gorgeous details and even more so all our super-fantastic friends who joined in the fun. The party took place at Taj Lounge, a cool space that felt intimate, yet very open to meeting all of the friendly faces that came out (and stayed out!) on a cold Sunday night.
Brides, wedding professionals and some of the hottest designers in the industry joined in the fun including Randy Fenoli, Michelle Rago, Anne Barge, Alisa Benay, as well as representatives from Amsale, Kenneth Pool, Christos and Ramona Keveza and more! Guests were greeted on an orange carpet, then got their celebrity-style picture snapped on the step-and-repeat before walking into a room full of people in party mode sipping signature drinks called “get fresh,” “get fun” and “get sassy,” each in our bold colors (pink, orange and a complimentary green) and sampling delicious mini bites. Geisha dancers, a live topiary and a terrific DJ (who played throw-back Michael Jackson tunes!) kept the eyes – and feet – moving.
It was an awesome night and we thank all of our brides and industry friends for making it a memorable launch party! Here are some shots below and to see all of the images from the party click here

The last show of Fashion Week this year for our crew was Elizabeth Fillmore. This was a bittersweet event. Sad to leave the big city, but so nice to see such a lovely collection. This collection is so unique in a way no other collection can touch. Her gowns have a sexy lingerie look while still keeping a touch of sweetness. Corset bodices give each dress a beautiful shape and were used differently throughout the collection.

Her fabrics are thin, flowy, and romantic

Lace and appliques are perfectly placed and unique frilly necklines were used to show these off.

My favorite part of the collection was the Engagement party dress. Its above- the knee Bubble hem is cute for any bride!

I hope you are enjoying Get Married and our new Blogger Brides! Every weekday morning, the TV show will bring you the latest fashion from the runways, tip and trends from top professionals in the bridal world, and ideas and advice for your big day. And online 24/7, you can see all the video segments from the show, along with articles, picture galleries, and an interactive space where you can make “friends” and share ideas with brides across the country!
I started my career while in college at The Ohio State University. I worked as an intern and then a production assistant at the local NBC affiliate in the sports department. After graduation, I moved to Atlanta and worked for the new network CNN Sports Illustrated as both an editor and producer. I then went to TBS Sports (see the trend, yes I love sports!) and learned a lot as a producer and writer. After 6 years in TV, my entrepreneurial spirits kicked in, (I grew up in a family business) and I started my own production company Reel Creative. Somewhere in there, I married my boss from CNN, Dave, and then convinced him to join the company as our Creative Director. We have 3 children that are the pride and joy of my life, Josh is 6, Jake is 4, and Geordie is 2.
After watching TONS of reality shows on weddings and realizing there was absolutely NOTHING providing news and information for brides, so in 2006 I decided to produce an TV show called Get Married Atlanta along with a companion website getmarriedatlanta.com. Brides in Atlanta LOVED the show and website and it was such a huge success in Atlanta that we decided to take it National and provide this great service to brides all over the country…Get Married and GetMarried.com were born! We like to call ourselves the Entertainment Tonight for Brides, “news brides can use”, we bring it to you in a creative and entertaining fashion both on TV and online! So welcome to the Get Married Family, and please feel free to write and let us know what else you would like to see on the show and our website, after all, this is all just for YOU!!!
Happy planning!
