So we have been thinking, "What should we do for a honeymoon?", and one thing that comes to both of our minds is the beach!!!! We have seriously been contemplating honeymooning off the Cape. We feel that Boston has great history we can see and of course Fenway Park!!!!! We would love to see a Red Sox game and have some Corona's on the beach (ok- I really don't drink beer but, you've seen those commercials!). We also will be going deep sea fishing for striper and tuna.
Do you have any other ideas of what to do out in MA? We need ideas!!!!

I love reading all of your blogs and can't get enough, so your blog is FAB!~
I also purchased these butterflies from floraltrims.com, they are feather butterflies and the perfect purple color, there will be one in all of our bouquets and in some other places, possibly in the corsages. I still haven't figured it out yet.I like the idea of using butterflies as my theme as I will be doing a butterfly release after the ceremony, more on the later! I go by Mariposa on most of my other networking websites and have always loved butterflies so it's very personalized, my email is even the name of a butterfly (leddablue)!! Mariposa means butterfly in Spanish. And at the Botanic Gardens (our venue) there is a butterfly pavilion! I think it will all tie in together well and I'll post more details soon! What do you think of my color scheme so far? I have been having a hard time coming up with a third color. It'll all work out though!
I absolutely love DIY projects! I think the main reason why is because I can make it "exactly" the way I want. When I started planning our wedding, I knew I wanted to make invitations. I started browsing google and looking for some ideas. I only found two particular styles I really liked, there are many pretty ones out there but just not exactly what I was envisioning. These are the pictures of invites that I really liked:
(Photo credit: brides.com) I like this one because when it's closed it looks like a butterfly *(more on that later), but it's not a pocketfold, which is what I really want. I just love butterflies.
(Photo credit: renaissancewritings.com) I love the sleekness of this design, I like the red and black it's pretty.

I am having a hard time deciding if I should have one or two flower girls. Have you ever been to a wedding that has more than one flower girl? I personally have never been to one but have seen many online reading stories and blogs.
So far I have chosen three girls for the bridal party; MOH and 2 maids. Matt has also chosen three men; BM and 2 Groomsmen.
The only kids in our families are Matt's 5 year old cousin named Alex and Alex's sister Alyssa who is 8. They are adorable kids and were recently in a family wedding as the ring bearer and flower girl. I really want them both to be in the wedding but I also have another little girl that I would love to have as a flower girl. She is my best friend's sister's daughter and her name is Leah. They asked me before they named her Leah. They wanted to know if I would mind, because that is my name too. I was so touched and felt honored. These are people I have known since I was in the second grade and Paula (my MOH) and I have been BFF's ever since the first day we met!
Little Leah will be 4 when the wedding comes and I am not sure if that is too young? The only reason I wonder is because the ceremony takes place in the evening at 7 PM. Alex will be 6 by then and I think he should be fine. I know, I probably sound crazy worrying about it because kids are so unpredictable anyway.
What are your thoughts? Do you think it would be too late for a 4 year old? Do you think Alyssa, the other flower girl would want to be the only flower girl? Do you think it's weird to have more than one flower girl? I have been so back and fourth with this one, like a lot of things and just thought I'd throw it out there to see what others think about it. Don't worry I am not easily offended and want to know what you all think, honestly!
Thanks~
I decided to post a blog because I have been reading everyone's blogs for a couple days now and it has been so much fun seeing all the different ideas there are out there. And I want to share my ideas and details with all of you too!
My finance and I have been together for a long time and over the past several years we had been talking about getting married. When we first started dating exclusively we were at the Zoo having a picnic when he asked me to be his girlfriend it was so cute! So we go to the Zoo often and a few years ago they built a Botanic Garden and Aquarium which is down the street from the Zoo so we decided to go check them out! This is when all the wedding talk started. At the Botanic Gardens there is a Ceremonial Rose Garden area and it is so beautiful. We had some friends with us and asked them to take a picture of us in this area. We kept telling each other "this would be a perfect place to get married"!! There are so many wonderful picture opportunities and we felt it was a perfect place.

This is the picture they took!
So after pondering some ideas of where to have the wedding and maybe having a destination wedding at a lake (we love fishing!) we decided it would be much easier to have the wedding in town. Once we decided on staying in town we knew exactly where to have the Ceremony! Of course, it had to be the Botanic Gardens!

This is a picture before they extended the wisteria vines to connect to the actual ceremony "stage"

This is what it looks like now and under the shade is where the guests will be seated. The vines are all purple wisteria, which is perfect because my colors include Purple!!!! Also another bonus is that I won't have to decorate, it's already decorated and has flowers all over the place. These pictures don't do it justice.
There is another very special reason this is a perfect place for us to do it! My Father passed away several years ago and it's hard to plan a wedding without your Father being included, especially for a Daddy's girl like me. In the Botanic Gardens right behind the Ceremony Area there is a walled Rose Garden with engraved plaques. You can get them engraved and you pay a donation fee the the Garden Society. So I decided to have my Dad's name engraved on the a plaque so he will "be there" with me! My Mom loved the idea and I cannot wait to see how it looks once it's finished.

This is a picture of one of the walls with the plaques. My Dad loved Roses, it's so fitting!
So all that aside it is absolutely beautiful, perfect and we can't wait till August! Here are some other photos from around the Gardens. It's really neat because it will be in the evening and our guests get to roam the gardens exclusively while we take pictures after the ceremony.

We are getting married August 7th, 2010 at the Rio Grande Botanic Gardens in my hometown, Albuquerque, NM. When I started planning the wedding I realized how much of an organized freak I am! I am a list making, detail oriented, DIY, budget conscious bride to be! It's so much fun to plan the wedding and I am lucky to have wonderful family and friends who are more than willing to help make our dream wedding come true!
