I have just recieved the best news ever!
So, one of the babies that I care for is half scottish, so i was poking around and asking the mother questions about where she was from and how long she's been here in NYC. I got around to telling her I was very interested in doing my wedding in Scotland. And she tells me her brother is also going to do a wedding in Scotland as well this coming May (he's here in NYC as well) and that her father has been helping them plan everything from over seas. She tells me that her father would be more then happy to help and already has sent me more information then any of the wedding planners that I have tried to contact did! SCORE! Just to have eyes and ears in a place I have never been, and I won't be able to go for awhile, is HUGE!
Also I think I found my dress or two!! I want a mermaid style lace, and 1/2 of pronovias dresses are lace.. so i am in LOVE!

They are all the same type.. but the cuts are different and trains and embellishments are different as well.. Can't wait to go try them on!!
As my last post said, I was having a dilemma about where to have my wedding. However, now I'm taking the plunge and having it in Scotland.
So far I have found two wedding planning sites that cater to destination weddings in Scotland.. I'm just hoping it's not going to go over the budget that we have planned.
So I will email them and see what they say..
Has anyone ever done a destination wedding in Scotland??
So the big question on my brain is if we are going to have a wedding in Ireland or Scotland. NYC is out the window. My mother wants me to have the wedding here... But I don't feel the excitement that I do when I think of having it in Ireland... But then recently a mother of one of the babies I take care of mentioned how her brother was getting married in Scotland.. and I did a little research and am in love!
I know this may sound crazy, but i have been in love with Scotland since I opened my first historical romance book (age 15).. lol.. and i've never been there!!
The thing about Ireland is my fh is half Irish and he can trace back his decedents to a castle near Galway. Which it does have meaning.. and the scenery is gorgeous there as well..
But with Ireland there are some restrictions of how to obtain a marriage license (having to live there for 15 days)and all that.. and there are certain places you have to be married at.. or something like that.. where as in Scotland you can get married anyplace and only have to request and pay for the marriage license 3 months before it takes place.. as so i am led to believe, i can be wrong.
But I have a feeling my fh will not have the feeling that i do about Scotland, and would rather get married in Ireland.
So my brain is in turmoil about what i should do next! lol..
I am recently engaged and I have no clue where to start... or even if I should start any planning yet. My fiance and I, have average jobs, me a childcare provider (sucky pay) and he a fdny firefighter(not the best pay). So right now other then paying for our everyday expenses, it is going to take us some time to save enough cash to actually start anything. We know we are most likely going to be waiting for 2 years.. but i do have an itch to start planning something... lol..
So any takers on what I should at least start?
