The Wedding Blog Sugar Doll Award

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

Thanks to Born to be Mrs. Beever and e32285m for the lovely Sugar Doll Award! I love reading your blogs!

10 Fun Facts

1. I am almost done student teaching in a second grade classroom. Two more weeks to go!

2. My fiance, Igli, came here from Albania when he was 16. I'm trying to learn some Albanian to be able to talk to his family when they come in for the wedding!

3. I love to sing and even have a Bachelor's Degree in music. My plan for after the wedding is to complete the two classes needed to be able to teach music. Then I willbe certified to teach k-6 and k-12 music. You would think knowing music would mean I wouldn't have such a hard time picking my ceremony music..sigh.

4. I'm learning how to cook..(I'm 24..kind of late) Igli is the head chef at a fine dining restaurant so he is a great cook...he even cooked me an AMAZING meal before he proposed, but I would like to be able to cook for him too.

5. Igli and I met over 4 years ago by mutual friends. We were all going to the beach one day and Igli and I could not stop talking in the back seat the whole way there! When we got to the beach, the talking, flirting, and playing in the water continued all day. At the end of the day knee deep in the water Igli asked me what I thought of him I said, "I like you what do you think of me?" Then he kissed me and everyone else at the beach dissappeared. The rest is history.

6. I have never broken a bone in my body and the only surgery I've had was getting my wisdom teeth removed.

7. Igli and I are opposites: he loves playing sports especially soccer and I'm the artsy musical one. We do support each other's interests though. One thing we do like to do together is go to the gym..even though he kicks my butt when we are there!

8. I'm afraid of tripping when walking down the aisle. Hopefully that will NOT happen.

9. In two weeks I will be a substitute teacher..lets hope I get a real teaching job soon!

10. Igli and I don't live together so I am greatly anticipating what marraige will be like. 5 more months to go!

The directions are simple: post the sugar doll award and 10 interesting facts about yourself and then pass it on to 10 blogger brides.

Shout outs to these blogger brides! I always love reading your blogs and getting inspired!

Ceremony music

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 03, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

I don't actually meet with the church organist until about 3 months prior to the wedding to pick out musical selections, but I have been trying to get some ideas about what I will be walking down the aisle to. I was never a huge fan of the wedding march. Canon in D is quite popular and pretty, I also am considering Gounod's Ave Maria (not the traditional Schubert version). I do want to stick with classical so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Does the wedding party usually walk to the same song or a different one as the bride?

What song are you walking down the aisle to?

Wedding Alteration Questions

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

I have a question to you fellow blogger brides: How many dress fitting appointments is a bride supposed to have? Also, when in the timeline of the wedding are these appointments supposed to happen? It seems like I should know the answer to these basic wedding questions but I am completely clueless.

One more: I bought my dress at a big chain salon and hear that their alteration prices are over the top. Would you suggest going back there for alterations because it's their dress and they know it the best..or to a less expensive independent tailor. I'm just afraid an independent tailor will screw it up..I've heard horror stories! Help!

Bridesmaid Issues

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

In my last blog post I wrote about how my wedding might have to be postponed unitl May because my sister might get her ship date to basic training changed. Well it stayed the same so the wedding is still on for April 17th! Now it seems closer than ever to be seven months away! I can't wait!

Here is my problem: my MOH and other bridesmaid aren't getting along. My MOH complains that this bridesmaid isn't doing enough and the bridesmaid complains that my MOH is trying to take over and do everything too soon. I can see both of their points: my MOH can sometimes seem pushy especially since she is planning an afterparty for us. Sometimes I do just want to remind her that it is my wedding. On the other hand my other bridesmaid can step up and help her a bit. My sister (the third bridesmaid) is the middlewoman: they both get along with her and sometimes complain to her about it. Now that my sis is leaving for basic and won't be home until a month before the wedding, I hope things don't get worse.

What should I do or say to mediate the situation? I don't want to listen to the both of them complain about each other for the next 7 months!

Moving my wedding date

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

Well it's not official yet but I think I'm going to have to move my April 17 wedding to May. My sister, who is going to basic training/schooling for the army reserves, got her start date pushed back which means I don't think she'll be home for the wedding. I'll have to talk to my priest which shouldn't be a problem and my MOH, Tif, will have to reschedule the place she booked for the afterparty. My reception will be a luncheon and I haven't booked it yet anyway so I'll be ok with that. I am doing this so she could be at the wedding...I don't want her to miss it. I can wait an extra month but if she wasn't there I think I would always regret it. I am however, a bit dissapointed just because I've been counting down the months and was down to 7 and now it feels like I'm moving backwards even though it's only a month. Has anyone had to reschedule their wedding?

my bridesmaid dresses

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 01, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

I found the cutest bridesmaids dresses by accident! After having no luck at the salon where I bought my gown, I just happened to be at the mall  when I saw the cutest dress. A few days later, I took two bridesmaids (the third couldn't go) to try on the dress. I immediately decided on it. My MOH and sister decided to order it online through the store website and my third bridesmaid bought it in the store. The dress is a short pale mint strapless, made out of satin crinkle material and it bubbles underneath. The picture doesn't do the color any justice, it's much more vibrant in real life. Here are the pics.

Movin in..or not?

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

I just started my student teaching in second grade..12 weeks and I'll be done...I can't wait..then I can enjoy the wedding planning a bit more. Anyway, I've lived with my parents all this time and he's lived with a roomate because it has been easier than just living on one income together. Now that I'll be done with school in 3 months, I'll be able to substitute teach for money till I get a job. We figured that since there will only be 4 months left till the wedding at that point, we might as well just wait to move in together until the wedding to make it more  exciting. It does sound nice to come back after the honeymoon and start our new life together, but on the other hand, we are planning on picking out a condo to rent together, and to decorate it together..and it kind of feels weird to do that stuff and have him move into OUR new condo 2-3 months before me! It feels like we should move in at the same time. I guess there are pros and cons to each side. I know this post isn't totally about weddings, but rather living arrangements...but what are your opinions on living together or waiting till the wedding?

maid of honor change

MONDAY, AUGUST 03, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

So about eight and a half months to the big day and I think I may change my maid of honor. Well right now it is my sister Rachel who is leaving October 14 for basic training and schooling for the army reserves..she will come home for two weeks for Christmas and then be home for good a month before the wedding. When I had gotten engaged she hadn't even enlisted yet so I didn't know this was coming. Of course, I support her fully and am happy she will be back in time for the wedding. But, she won't be able to do anything while she's gone...and she mentioned to me that although she really wants to be my maid of honor, maybe my bridesmaid Tiffany (who is also throwing me an afterparty) would be a better choice. She said she would leave it up to me. I know Tif would be a more logical choice and I also know she would be happy to accept. I was her maid of honor. Still, part of me wants my sister, but she can be a bridesmaid.

My Wedding Dress

WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

I did end up buying my dress on Sunday and the whole experience of trying on the gowns was so much fun I'm sorry it's over.

My consultant was nice- but when I was still trying to decide on a gown, she said, "Let's have your girls try on dresses and then stand next to you and see what's better." It sounded like an ok idea, but it turned out to be chaos. She threw dresses at us and then left, all the while I was walking around in a wedding gown so I couldn't sit down while my bridesmaids were coming out wearing the dresses. It was very overwhelming. She should have waited until I made a decision so I could get back into my clothes, have a seat and be comfortable.

We didn't end up buying bridemaids dresses but, I'm so excited about my gown..heres a pic. This gown is actually a size too big as you can tell in the waist area, she's pinning it back behind me. Later she brought out the right size..and it's home now!

Wedding Gown Shopping!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 2009
ALMOST MRS.TELO

I am going wedding gown shopping on Sunday. I am so excited!!

I figured that after I find my dress, my bridesmaids can try on dresses as well. The only issue is that my sister who is the MOH is in the army reserves. She leaves for basic training/ schooling in mid October, comes back for a week for Christmas, and then won't be back until a month before my wedding which is April 17th. Should she order her dress now?

I have a feeling after basic training she may come back a size or two smaller and then alterations may be pricey. On the other hand I feel like ordering her dress a month before the wedding is pushing it. My other two bridesmaids will probably order their dresses on Sunday.

What to do? Thoughts? Advice?
